God is Respectful

40 simple truthsWe declared yesterday that God is collaborative – that he prefers to have a partner in His work, and the partner He has in mind is little, old you!

And being all-powerful, He has the authority to make it compulsory for you to join His team. He could also, at any time, set aside the free will He gave you, take control of your body and literally make you do what He wants you to do.

Why? Because He’s God and you’re not. That’s His prerogative, and don’t ever let yourself think otherwise.

Thankfully, though, that’s not how He chooses to interact with us. God is respectful of our choices. You don’t have to be God’s partner if you’d rather go it alone.

In His encounter with the Rich Young Man, when the man ‘went away sad’, Jesus didn’t try to stop him. He didn’t compromise His position, He didn’t command the man to come back. He didn’t even try to talk him into it. He just ‘looked at him and loved him’.

If we choose to turn our back on Him and walk away, it breaks His heart, but He lets us go.

So choose wisely.

Peace be with you.
