God is Great

40 simple truthsGod is great.

I bet you already knew that, but have you thought about it lately?

But He is.

In fact, ‘great’ is a pretty great understatement.

He made the Heavens and the Earth. Our solar system is a microscopic speck in His creation, and creation is a mere reflection of the greatness of the Creator.

We say leaders are ‘great’ when they right a wrong or correct an injustice. But right and wrong didn’t exist until God created them. And God invented justice, too.

We use the word ‘great’ to describe an Isaac Newton or Albert Einstein, for helping humanity gain a new understanding of some of the laws of physics – but all of the laws of physics were God’s idea.

Speaking of great ideas, God decided that children should be cute so we’ll be nice to them. He decided to use raindrops to unlock the full spectrum of colors contained in the white light of our sun.

The blue whale was His idea, and so was the chameleon.

Alexander the Great, Peter the Great, The Great Gatsby, The Great Gretzky, The Great Mouse Detective, The Great Wall of China …

If any of these ‘greats’ have legitimate claim to that word, they get their greatness from a great God.

All things bright and beautiful, all creatures great and small. All things wise and wonderful, the Lord God made them all.

Peace be with you.
