Goosebumps, Part 2

When I finished and posted Goosebumps on Friday, I had no intention of making it the first in a series, but a few hours later, I realized I had more to say on the topic. (That’s hard to believe, I know, considering that the posting was 900 words, and I pledged in my inaugural Disciplehood – way back on Sept. 30 – to keep this blog in the 300-500-word range. Sorry about that; I’ll continue to aim for brevity. Either that, or I’ll just break a long post into a series of shorter ones.)

I have two more Goosebumply points to talk about, and they’re mostly unrelated – or are they?

Here’s the first:

I popped into my church Friday morning to pick up a new key, and bumped into my pastor and friend, Stephen Hambidge. He mentioned that he’d read my first blog posting, and offered a few encouraging words about it.

But then, he mentioned that he clicked on one of the automatically generated Possibly Related Posts at the bottom of the blog – something about good Anglicans coming in threes or something (I tried to find the link and check it out, but it’s gone now). As it turns out, that blog was posted by the administrator of a church in Wales, where Stephen’s sister-in-law (sister of Stephen’s wife, Mandy) is the children’s worker.

Goosebumps.

It’s not that close of a connection, I’ll admit. My pastor’s wife’s sister works with another WordPress blogger who also writes about God from an Anglican perspective. (It smacks more of Dark Helmet and Lone Star [I am your father’s brother’s nephew’s cousin’s former roommate] than Darth Vader and Luke Skywalker.) It’s not as if God used this link to reunite me with my long-lost best friend from Grade 1 or anything (By the way, how’s tricks, Terry?)

But it is pretty neat when you look at the randomness of some of the other Possibly Related Postings WordPress has chosen to connect with Disciplehood –‘Remember Me?? Oh yeah, and that Course I Mentioned a While Back??’ and ‘Innocent until told otherwise’ and ‘Things you Shouldn’t Say OFF The Golf Course.’

It’s hard to fathom what the server thinks the first Goosebumps posting had to do with any of those topics. And that makes me wonder if the fact it got things so right on the Genesis posting isn’t significant somehow.

My goosebumps seem open to the idea.
